Fall is right around the corner, and we cannot hide our excitement for the staple clothing that comes with it. Not only that, but we are also looking forward to the end of the blazing summer heat (shoutout to the rest of you Floridians!). We’re just looking forward to the joys of fall: pumpkin spice lattes, cozy evenings, warm tea, a cool breeze, and the opportunity to put together some great outfits with the help of staple clothing and layering.

As fall approaches, staple clothing will become essential for creating stylish and comfortable looks throughout the season.. Summers allow us to have some pretty carefree outfits courtesy of swimsuits and sundresses, but fall is a fashionista’s moment to shine.

Layers can completely transform any outfit. Wearing simple jeans and a v-neck? Add some movement with a cardigan, a staple clothing piece. Wearing a basic slip dress? Throw on a denim jacket and some booties to add some personality with staple clothing items. Each new season allows us to go back into our closets and pull out our staple clothing pieces. If you haven’t already built your staple clothing wardrobe for fall, we’ve got you covered with all the essential staple clothing you need.

Fall Staple Clothing And Accessories:

Fedora Hat

Fedoras were extremely popular during the days of Prohibition (the 1920s to the early 1930s) and are back. This classic bucket hat is the perfect way to accessorize any laidback outfit. Here are the fedoras on our wish list:

One must-have in every woman’s wardrobe is a classic black fedora. The Telescope Brim black fedora from Asos is the perfect accessory to throw on any outfit. Black accessories match most outfits and never go out of style. This fedora is expandable and easy to maintain (wipe only for cleaning), which makes it even better.

If you’re looking for something a little sassier, look no further than the Lisianthus Women Classic Felt Fedora Wide Brim Hat. This fedora comes in tan and many variations! For its price, it’s a steal! You can pair it with your trendiest fall outfits; pair it with oversized coats, sweaters, and a midi-skirt for the ultimate fall look.

We recently discovered Gigi Pip, a brand that specializes in making high-quality hats, and knew that the Dahlia Boater fedora needed to be added to our fedora collections. This beautiful, structured hat is perfect to elevate any outfit this fall. It adds a ton of personality with its unusual shape. Unlike most fedoras, this one comes in different sizes and can fit anyone’s unique head size.

Tan Booties

Another must-have item on our fall staple clothing list is a good pair of ankle-length boots. Fall is breezy enough to require some close-toed coverage but not enough for the longer boot styles. Ankle boots are perfect to pair with shorts, jeans, skirts, and even dresses. We recommend all the following, which you can find at ASOS.

Monki vegan patent-heeled boots in taupe are the perfect boots for a modern and stylish woman. Its simple design allows you to pair it with any outfit and turns it up a notch!

If you’re looking for a more cozy and comfortable pair of boots, look no further than the Truffle Collection Wide Fit buckle Chelsea boot. The easy pull-up and slip-on design make it a perfect pair for a casual outfit. Plus, the adjustable strap is so stylish!

Looking for a sexy option? The Vince Camuto Sashane Peep-Toe Booties are a no-brainer. This pair of designer high-heeled booties are perfect for the days you want to get glammed up and hit the town. A covered stiletto with a peep toe design screams sexy. Rock these with your favorite pair of jeans and make a statement.

Denim Jacket

One of our favorite staple clothing items is denim jackets. Denim jackets have made a comeback from the grungy 90s. Oversized ripped, studded, and covered in patches denim jackets have a lot of personalities and can completely change the look of any outfit. Denim jackets are a key fall staple.

Contrast Stitch Cropped Denim Jacket is the perfect cropped jacket. Lightweight, with a chic zipper, and the perfect style to elevate any casual look to make a statement.

Another cropped option comes from Express, this White Cropped Feather Cuff Denim Jacket. This cropped jacket is a perfect throw-on piece for an all-black, bold statement outfit on a night out.

An oversized denim shacket is another great addition to your fall collection. We are convinced this white denim jacket will be in style this year. This is the perfect jacket to wear with a dress and some sneakers while running errands or for a lunch date in the park.

Cozy Flannels

Yes, flannels can be stylish! Flannels get a bad rep for being a lazy outfit choice, but they are effortlessly trendy. Take your flannel game up a notch by pairing a muted flannel with a leather skirt or by styling it with a lightweight scarf. If you want to rock fall fashion, wear a tucked-in, body-fitting cami under your baggy flannel – you’ll look effortlessly but extremely stylish.

Tilly comes through with a great variety of other winner-fall products. The RSQ Women’s Basic Flannel can be worn as a jacket paired with leggings. For a more classic look, pair this shirt with some baggy jeans. Our favorite way though is in the way they have styled it with a maxi skirt, a stunning look for a walk in the park, running errands, or grabbing lunch with a friend.

Grandad Collar Oversized flannel shirt is a go-to for pairing with a sassy graphic t-shirt dress and some knee-high boots. Push the boundaries and stay on top of trends with this shirt, available in four fun colors including mustard/stone and blue, it’s hard to go wrong with this flannel.

Speaking of bold, Missguided’s Beige Oversized Check Shirt is the flannel print to go to when you want to skip wearing the shirt with other articles of clothing. Just style it with some daring boots, and you are ready to go!

Cardigans

The ultimate fall staple clothing piece is a good cardigan. Cardigans can be dressed down to look comfy or played up to look chic. Cardigans come in all shapes and sizes – cropped, chunky, mesh, you name it – there’s a cardigan for everyone. Wear it to keep yourself cozy, to add a pop of color, or for our Florida girls, as an accessory on your shoulders if the weather is not too cold!

The Chunky Knit 3/4 Sleeve Wrap Cardigan is perfect for cooler weather. Wear this Fisherman man knit cardigan with some joggers for a laid-back look or with some slacks for a more polished look. This is a great transitional piece that will keep you warm and well put together.

For a lightweight cardigan, we love the Knit Tie Front Cardigan. This fun and subtly colorful cardigan is a bold choice once you pair it with a bright bralette and ripped jeans. While it’s not for everyone, this cardigan is a staple piece for this fall.

For the ultimate cardigan that just screams fall and makes you want to curl up in front of a toasty fire, look no further than the V Neck Button-Up Cardigan. You can wear this cardigan with wide-leg pants for a layered look or with a cotton maxi dress for a more textured look. Comes in 2 different colors!

What is the fall trend for 2024?

Their seven-member Trend Council predicts that English prep, dark romanticism, and strong glamour will be the major trends in fashion for fall 2024.

What clothing is in style in 2024?

Following a fantastic Chloé show that elevated the style of fringe, fur, and wedge heels, boho is making a comeback. A relative of boho, preppy, heritage-inspired fashion is also quite trendy right now. Labels like Burberry, Schiaparelli, Miu Miu, and Bally are showcasing crisp blazers, lived-in denim, and plaid coats.

What are the best clothes to wear in the fall?

In a similar vein, wearing layers will help you avoid overheating or freezing. Put on a sweater, a long-sleeved T-shirt, or a short-sleeved T-shirt before adding a jacket. On a milder fall day, a lightweight fleece jacket or vest is ideal; but, if the temperature drops, go for a down coat.
